Happy New Year 2014

2013 has been one of the best years of my life. My marriage to the most wonderful lady in the world; Cheryl. I have been gifted with the freedom to put all my time and energy into the Hands of the Creator for His good pleasure. Traveling across America with my sweetie. Meeting and spending time with friends and family from Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Santa Maria, Visalia, Sacramento, Redding Ca, Las Vegas and Oregon. Visiting Little Big Horn, Crazy Horse Memorial, WooLaRoc in Bartlesville Ok. We truly have extended our tent to include an even bigger family. And in the last few months finding a new family with whom to celebrate life as we walk the Sacred Red Road. Enjoying new relationships new opportunities and the many gifts from our Creator, Friend, Way Maker, who is The Chosen One, Jesus. We send our love and prayers to our friends around the world and those who are reaching out with the love and truth of a good God with Good News around the world.

May your camp be warm, peaceful and full of great joy.

Today We weep with those who weep

On December 29th 1890, 300 men, women and children were massacred. This was a calculated systematic ethnic cleansing effort made on the pretext of taking away the guns of the Lakota Sioux. It is to our shame as a nation that there has yet to be justice extended by revoking the medal of honor awards to those who took part in this merciless act of inhuman violence.  Just as we can never turn our eyes away from the Holocaust perpetrated on the Jews in Nazi Germany, neither can we turn our eyes away from the truth, the United States perpetrated its own Holocust against the Native Americans, The American Indians, The First Nation people of North America. To find true hope for our country we must face these facts and repent. We must find healing for every member of the Five Hundred and Sixty Six Native American Nations that still exist today in the boundaries of North America.

America for all that is good about the founding of the United States we must also face what is ugly.

We repent O God, Our Creator and ask you to forgive us for the atrocities perpetrated by our forefathers.

Make a way we pray for healing, reconciliation and restitution.

Native Version of the Twelve Days of Christmas

On the First day of Christmas, Grandfather gave to me… an Eagle sitting on a cedar tree. (The eagle climbs the highest and takes our prayers to the highest places. The eagle is Jesus who was able also to climb to the Sky World.)

On the second day of Christmas, Grandfather gave to me… two wise owls. (The owls represent both death and sacred messages from the Holy places. They also represent the Old Testament and the New Testament that brought transformation and mercy.)

On the third day of Christmas, Grandfather gave to me… three sacred drums. (Drums beat out the sound of Mother Earth as we pray to the Grandfather. When you hear them beat, remember the Word creating the earth and the heavens.)

On the fourth day of Christmas, Grandfather gave to me… four talking feathers. (The feathers remind us that Matthew, Mark, Luke and John were given the talking feather by the Grandfather to tell His story to all of us.)

On the fifth day of Christmas, Grandfather gave to me… five prayer bundles. (Remember that the Law of Nature is still to be followed, and we humbly submit to it as we offer our prayers.)

On the sixth day of Christmas, Grandfather gave to me… six hawks a laying. (We celebrate the creation of Mother Earth. We thank Grandfather for giving us life. We often use the feathers of this creature to smudge ourselves in preparation of our prayer time.)

On the seventh day of Christmas, Grandfather gave to me… seven stones for my sweat lodge. (Remember the gifts of the Great Spirit are seven fold. We learn how to walk in these gifts through our awe and love of Him as we pray in our lodges.)

On the eighth day of Christmas, Grandfather gave to me… eight great buffalo. (To remember the beatitudes – the teachings of Jesus. The buffalo represent His provision for our health and our existence. He blessed the people, the meek, those who weep, and the poor.)

On the ninth day of Christmas, Grandfather gave to me… nine precious elders. (As we sit at the feet of our elders we hear how we can walk in the path of the Great Spirit. Our Elders have always taught these truths; we did not know that they were the same truths taught by the talking leaves that the white men have brought to us.)

On the tenth day of Christmas, Grandfather gave to me… ten eagle dancers. (The eagle dancers sacrifice for the people during the Sun Dance. Our dancers dance to protect the people and to keep the people in a state of wholeness. The eagle dancers represent the ten commandments which were given to keep the people whole.)

On the eleventh day of Christmas, Grandfather gave to me… eleven braids of sweet grass sage. (As we light it and send the smell of sweet grass to the Sky Nation, it invites those who dwell in the realm of the Grandfather to enter our world and help us. We remember the faithful disciples who stood ready to do His will and work.)

On the twelfth day of Christmas, Grandfather gave to me… twelve drummers singing. (The sacred drums cannot help us to pray if they do not have four drummers each to beat out the heartbeat of Mother Earth to the Great Spirit. When our people are on the drum, we call it singing, we call it praying. We know it to be much more than just drumming.)

Busy Time

Hello dear blog friends

It has been a very busy couple of months. We are inventorying a large Native American Library. There are over 40,000 books to be processed. My wife and I have been asked to join the team that will be establishing a Native Book Store and Cultural Center. It is a great joy to work side by side with our Native brothers and sisters. We learn daily more about protocol, honor, history and wealth of Native wisdom. This has been a great gift from the Creator and we are overwhelmed with gratitude for every door He has opened. We wish you all the very best in this Christmas season as we rely on the Way Maker, Jesus for more understanding and greater Grace to be all He has created us to be.

November 29, 1864 - A day that will live infamy

We stop this day to commemorate the Sand Creek Colorado Massacre.

On this date in 1864 a peaceful village of Cheyenne and Arapahoe mostly woman, children and elderly were brutally attacked. Chief Black Kettle raised the American flag and a White flag and believed the attack was a mistake and the good will of the American Government towards him would protect his people. He was wrong. A former Methodist minister John M. Chivington let a militia against these people and killed the woman and children mercilessly.

Our tears cannot bring back the dead we can only hope our tears will bring justice.

O Great God, our Creator remember these your children who died this day. Grant them peace and we will not forget this day and only ask that you forgive us for this tragedy. Bring justice for your children and all the First Nation, Native American people of this land.

The Way Maker

“The Creator loved this world so much He gave us the Chosen One, His own Son and He opens wide His arms to welcome all who place their trust in Him. The Way maker has cleared the path that we may come into His Long House to live with Him happily forever.

So Be it, Amen
